The Board of Elections approved a new location for One-Stop Early Voting at the Aug. 7 meeting.

The BOE voted unanimously to move early voting from the Board of Elections to the Charles Riddle Center in Wadesboro. The move must still be approved by the North Carolina State Board of Elections.

“We’re waiting for the state to confirm that plan,” interim Director Steve Adams said.

Early voting will begin Oct. 18 and last until Nov. 3. Citizens may vote from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Nov. 3, a Saturday, when voting will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. If citizens miss the Oct. 12 registration deadline, they may still register and vote in one visit through One-Stop Early Voting.

“This is the only early voting location for the entire county,” Adams said. “There’s no other locations.”

The BOE considered moving Early Voting last year over concerns about the ease of access for the elderly or disabled and the difficulty of finding parking around the County Government Building as well as an increase in traffic in the area.
