Leading the Bearcats to a 21-7 record since his arrival in 2007, McMahon said he was flattered to be considered for the position in Greenwood, but right now, his heart's in Anson County and with his football team.
"Fortunately, we've had success and some folks, when jobs come open, you have to look at it," Coach McMahon explained. "But I love it here in Anson County; I'm not going anywhere."
The coach went on to say that Greenwood High School was checking him out, more so than he was looking for another position. "Sometimes, you just have to look at other positions," he said, "but I'm very happy at Anson High School."
Before coaching high school football, McMahon was a student coach, wide receivers coach, offensive line coach and offensive coordinator at Catawba College, Greenwood's Index-Journal reported.
A 1981 graduate of Freedom High School in Burke County, McMahon earned a bachelor’s degree in social studies from Catawba College in 1985 and a master’s degree from the University of Phoenix last year.
McMahon, who also teaches strength and conditioning, said his goal now is "to make the best football team we can have and help these kids get to college."
