The final Summer Jam concert of the summer season is planned for this Friday night, 7-10 p.m. on East Wade Street in uptown Wadesboro.
The free summer concert series is sponsored by Uptown Wadesboro, Inc., and concerts are held on the first Friday night of each month, June through August.
The Loaded Dice Band of Rockingham is slated to play the final concert of the season. A five-piece band featuring lead and rhythm guitars, keyboards, bass guitar and drums, as well as three- and four-part vocal harmonies, their music ranges from classic/Southern and blues rock, country, beach, oldies and top 40 with a set list packed with dance tunes.
Concessions will be available at the concert. There will be activities for the kids as well. Preceding the concert, the Wadesboro Rotary Club is sponsoring a cornhole tournament in the parking lot beside Plank Road Realty, at the corner of East Wade and Washington streets.
Registration will begin at 5 p.m. with the tournament starting at 6 p.m. The tournament will be double elimination with brackets for winners and losers. Official cornhole rules will be followed. Cost is $20 per person.
The top three teams will be awarded cash prizes.
