Anson County Board of Elections director Tasha Coleman has been released from her position.
Her employment was officially ended July 13 by North Carolina Board of Elections (NCBOE) director Gary Bartlett, according to a statement from the NCBOE.
She was placed on administrative leave June 22 with pay. On that date, the Anson County Board of Elections unanimously petitioned her removal to Bartlett under the provisions of North Carolina General Statutes § 163-35. The statute covers the director’s position with the Board of Elections, appointment, compensation, duties and dismissal.
“We’re not making those comments yet,” NCBOE General Counsel Don Wright said, when asked why Coleman had been released.
Her duties have been handled since June 22 by assistant director Steve Adams, who has been working with the Anson County Board of Elections and staff at the NCBOE.
“The Anson County Board of Elections will review and address the issue of replacing the former director sometime after the July 17, 2012 Second Primary,” the statement said.
