At at 6:25 p.m. on July 4, members of the Wadesboro Fire Department were dispatched to 64 Flatrock St., Wadesboro, for a possible structure fire.

Firefighters found a single-story wooden structure with heavy fire presenting at the front of the residence. All residents were accounted for and safe.

The investigation determined that the fire was caused by improper usage or a malfunctioning gas grill on the front porch.

The Wadesboro Fire Department was assisted by the Lilesville Fire Department, Anson Rescue Squad, Wadesboro Police Department and American Red Cross. All responding agencies cleared at 8:51 p.m.

The home sustained approximately $60,000 worth of damage.
