The Wadesboro Walmart celebrated a grand reopening Friday morning after a series of small renovations to the store.
Changes to the store include the return of fabrics and a variety of other related items, which brought cheers from those gathered for the ceremony, new fish tanks that make it easier for associates to assist customers and new colors throughout the store.
“We want our customers to feel refreshed and joyful when they come in our store,” general manager Tembila Covington said.
Covington thanked everyone who works in the store, as well as the planning team that helped make the minor renovations possible. “We’ve assembled this place so that you will always enjoy your trip to the Wadesboro Walmart,” she added.
Market manager Nicole Pfister, who helps manage eight stores including the Wadesboro Walmart, also spoke during the grand reopening ceremony.
“Even though we called it a mini-remodel, I know you’ve all worked hard,” she told the associates. Pfister added that the company is making changes not just to its buildings, but also to its processes. “We keep pressing forward,” she said. “We have a responsibility not just to ourselves, but also to our community.”
Store planner Darwin Hicks led the Wadesboro Walmart through the transition, Covington said, and was visiting from Georgia for the effort. “We have tried to cut millions of dollars on our remodels,” Hicks said. “We’re trying to save money so our customers can live better.”
He presented Covington with a plaque for the store, and also led the associates through the Walmart cheer before the ceremonial ribbon was cut.
Store managers from Rockingham, Asheboro and several others in the region were present Friday for the grand reopening.
The Anson County Partnership for Children was also on hand to give out free books for children, and sign kids up for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library.
