The front courtyard of the Anson County Courthouse will have a different look once renovations are complete. In place of the circular, slanted flower bed that once stood at the base of the Confederate soldier statue, there will now be a symmetrical square of concrete. A time capsule that was found earlier this month will also now be protected, said Jeff Waisner, director of parks and recreation and facilities for the county. The capsule had disappeared from view after vegetation grew over it through the years. Construction crews poured new concrete into the courtyard on Friday, and were expected to be three-quarters of the way finished by Monday, Waisner said.
