McKinley Ray Bennett of Laurinburg died on June 7, 2012 at his home.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 14, from 11 a.m. to noon at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Laurinburg, with the Rev. Ruby P. Lennon and Rev. Charles Allen officiating. Interment will follow at Northside Cemetery.
Bennett was born on Dec. 24, 1923 in Lilesville, a son of the late Holden and Pearlie Dunlap-Bennett. He attended public schools in Anson County and retired from Richmond Community College after 20 years of service. He was a member of Forestville A.M.E. Zion Church in Lilesville as a child, and later joined St. Mary A.M.E. Zion Church in Laurel Hill and Westminster Presbyterian Church in Laurinburg.
He is survived by his sister, Anna Virginia Bennett of Greensboro; niece, Leola Avery of Greensboro; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Nelson Funeral Service of Rockingham is serving the family.
