Carly Little addressed the Wadesboro Town Council Monday to ask for support for future Summer Jams.

The free concerts were held twice this past summer and Uptown Wadesoboro, under its president, Little, hope to expand the series.

She told the council the organization planned on holding five of the event later this year. Each would last three hours, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Little asked the town to help with clean-up and provide portable toilets, which it did in the past. The series would again take place on East Wade Street, between the Historical Society and the First Presbyterian Church.

The event would take place the first Friday of every month, from May to September.

Town manager John Witherspoon and utilities director Hugh James estimated the cost to the town would be approximately $500 per event.

The town council postponed action and requested Witherspoon draw up an estimate.
