Things are heating up around Wadesboro as the annual Summer Jam concert series rolls in. Preparations are under way to kick off the summer with a bang!
Uptown Wadesboro, Inc., is pleased to announce the first band of the season, The Horizon Band, featuring our very own Cletus Surratt.
The Horizon Band will take center stage on June 1 filling East Wade Street with popular country, Southern rock, oldies, and beach music. Such a variety of music guarantees entertainment for everyone.
Uptown Wadesboro president, Brook Crider, encourages guests to do a little toe-tapping and singing along. “Plus, there’s always room for those that get the itch to dance!” she added.
The Summer Jam concert series aims to provide fun, safe, and free entertainment right here in our community. With the help of local support from sponsors around Anson County, the concerts will be free to the public. Following the debut in June, the concert series will continue throughout the summer with additional performances the first Fridays of July and August. The July Summer Jam will venture from the streets of East Wade and onto the Ray Shelton Ball Field. This concert will serve as a Fourth of July Celebration, featuring The Big Sam Band and a spectacular fireworks display.
All concerts will begin at 7 p.m. and conclude at 10 p.m.
Local vendors will be located at each event to provide food and snacks including hot dogs, popcorn, baked goods, and drinks. All proceeds will benefit local fundraising efforts. So, come hungry!
Feel free to bring a lawn chair, beach towel, or blanket for your family and enjoy the music. Each event will also have activities for children.
