Three Anson High School basketball players signed to play at Catawba Valley Community College on Monday.

Jessica Crowder, Jillian Murray and class of 2011 alum Lativa Lee will play in the fall for the Bucs. They signed their letters of intent in a small conference room off of the school library on Monday surrounded by family.

The trio will share an apartment at their new school. Each received a partial scholarship but grants are expected to cover the difference.

Lee said she was not sure yet what she wanted to study. She will play forward or guard. After a tour of the campus, she said that she felt like family.

Murray said the school “was a good fit.” She wants to study in order to become a physical education teacher. She will play on the wing for the Bucs.

“I’m just glad to make it,” she said.

Crowder said she liked the school and its facilities. “It’s a good school,” she said.

She wants to study biology in order to become a physical therapist. She will play post.

All of them expressed gratitude to their family, coaches and others who helped them succeed.
