As part of the National Day of Prayer on Thursday morning, May 3, Anson Middle School’s Joy Club hosted a “Prayer at the Pole” at 7:30 a.m.

The Joy Club is a Christian group at the middle school, and has about 35 members, said parent advisor Rosemary Greene. Anson Middle School coach JaMark Parker and teacher Miranda Shepherd-Chewning head up the club.

Many of the club members, parents and teachers turned out for the early morning Prayer at the Pole on Thursday.

Anthony Rogoni, student minister at First Baptist Church in Marshville, was the speaker for the event, and his message “focused on the opportunity to truly follow Christ and to surrender our lives to Him,” he said.
