The Anson County

Partnership for Children is

aiming to raise $25,000 at the

third annual Barn Blast.

The event will be at 6 p.m.

at the National Guard Armory

Jan. 30. So far, the organization

has raised roughly $16,000 in

sponsorships.

"We are about $5,000 short of

where we were last year at this

time,"said Elaine Scarborough,

the executive director of the

Partnership.

All of the proceeds will

go toward the Dolly Parton

Imagination Library. The

library provides registered

children, up to age five, a free

book in the mail each month.

Tickets to the event are $30,

the same as the cost of registering

one child. Currently

940 children, out of roughly

1,500 in Anson County in that

age group, are registered.

The event will feature a live

band, Spur of the Moment,

and a catered dinner.

There will also be auctions.

Some of the things up for

sale include a week at a condominium

on Sugar Mountain,

a quilt and a free will preparation.

Tickets are $30 per person

and are available at the

Partnership office or at the

door the night of the event.
