WADESBORO — Joel Malcom “Mike” Howell, 69, died Monday, Feb. 13, 2012 in Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, by the graveside in Anson Memorial Park.
The family greeted friends Wednesday, Feb. 15, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Leavitt Funeral Home and other times at the home.
Howell was born June 5, 1942 in Anson County, a son of the late Grady Lee “Joe” and Elizabeth “Lib” Smith Howell. He was retired from the North Carolina Department of Transportation.
Surviving are his wife, Vicky Ratliff Howell of the home; his children, Joel (Linda) Howell of Bryson City, Tenn., and Melinda (Tracy) Hefferan of Rockingham; his grandchildren, Kayla, Aaron and Katie Howell and William Honeycutt; and his sisters, Pat (Tony) Martin of Ansonville and Kay (David) Vaughn of Lilesville.
