Newton — Aaron Jacob “A.J.” Burr Jr., 58, passed away Friday, June 3, 2011 at Palliative Care Center and Hospice of Catawba Valley.
He was born June 26, 1952 in Anson County, the son of Aaron J. and Eunice Oliver Burr. He attended Bethel Lutheran Church (LCMS) and was employed at Superior Automated Fire Equipment (SAFE) for over 30 years.
He is preceded in death by his father and two brothers, Steve and Scott Burr.
Survivors include his wife, Mary E. Burr; his mother, Eunice Burr of Wadesboro; two sons, Chris Burr and wife, Becky of Wadesboro and Kevin Burr and wife, Leigha of Wadesboro; a step-son, Scott Byles and wife, April of Newton; a stepdaughter, Kathy Williams of Newton; a brother, Mitchel Burr and wife, Ann of Concord and three grandchildren, Sunee and Rylee Burr both of Wadesboro and Nicholas Byles of Newton.
A funeral service was held at 3 p.m., Tuesday, June 7, at Catawba Funerals and Cremations by Pastor Eric Hollar. Burial followed in Catawba Memorial Park. The family received friends from 1:30 until 3:00 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service at the funeral home.
