Many roads in Anson County were covered in ice early Thursday morning.
Although Anson County missed out on snow, a winter storm that passed through late Wednesday night and Thursday morning brought a wintry mix to the area.

Classes in Anson County Schools were canceled on Thursday, and the Anson County Superior Court system was operating on a two-hour delay.

Anson County Emergency Management director Rodney Diggs said that there were "a bunch of accidents" on the roadways but none had resulted in serious injury. No power outages were reported as of 10 a.m. Thursday.

The weather situation and road conditions were expected to improve throughout the day. "The temperature is supposed to warm up around the middle of the day to the 40s so everything should thaw out," Diggs said. "But any standing water that's left in the roadway may refreeze tonight since it's supposed to get down into the 20s."

Diggs recommended that morning commuters be extra cautious when driving to work Friday morning.
