Dimitri Jarrell, a recent Anson High School graduate, and his dad, Billy, both of Wadesboro, found The Anson Record’s Golden Football and won $250 on Thursday morning.
The father and son found the football in a ditch at the Anson County Airport around 9:30 a.m. The fifth clue led the pair to the airport: “The sky is blue and clear. We hid the football so it could watch many touchdowns very near.”
“We thought it was near the football field at first,” Billy Jarrell said. “But then we realized the touchdowns probably referred to the airport. We were out there for a good while, and I told him I thought we might have to wait for the sixth clue, but then he said, ‘Nope, I found it,’ and held it up.”
The Jarrells went to the airport last night after having dinner at La Fogata, but said it was too dark to see the ball in the ditch.
Dimitri said he plans to use the $250 to take his brothers shopping and out to dinner. “I promised my brothers if I found it, I would take them out to eat,” he said.
"God is good," added Billy. "We have to give Him the glory."
