The Anson County Homeless Partners, a group of local organizations that aim to stop homelessness, hosted a Homeless Resource Fair at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Wadesboro on Thursday, April 26.
Agencies represented at the fair included: Union County Community Action, Inc., Crisis Assistance Ministries, the Anson County Department of Social Services (Anson County WorkFirst), the Anson County Partnership for Children, the Anson County Public School System, Habitat for Humanity, the Anson Housing Authority, South Piedmont Community College, the Anson County Partnership for Children and more. The Wadesboro Police Department and Anson County Sheriff’s Office were also on hand to provide information and services.
“The purpose of the event is to serve as a resource fair for children and families in Anson County who are currently experiencing, or on the verge of experiencing, homelessness,” explained Eric Faulkner, contract administrator with Union County Community Action.
Individuals and families who attended the fair were given goody bags that included some basic toiletries and were also provided information on services available for the homeless and those at risk of becoming homeless. Free blood pressure screenings were also offered by nurses and social workers from Anson County Schools.
