Anson Community Hospital (ACH) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in Computed Tomography (CT) as the result of a recent survey by the American College of Radiology (ACR).
CT scanning is a non-invasive medical test that helps physicians diagnose and tailor treatments for various medical conditions. The hospital’s successful accreditation follows an intensive assessment by specially trained board-certified physicians who evaluate all aspects of the program to be sure it meets the rigorous requirements set by the association.
“The ACR accreditation demonstrates our continued pledge to build the strongest medical community possible,” said Fred Thompson, Ph.D., Anson Community Hospital president. “Accreditation by the American College of Radiology inspires a high level of confidence for our patients and referring physicians, and assures them that only the highest quality of care is being provided at ACH.”
The American College of Radiology awards accreditation to facilities for the achievement of high practice standards after a peer-review evaluation of the department. They assess the qualification of the personnel, the adequacy of facility equipment, image quality, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs. The surveyors report their findings to the ACR’s Committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the department and hospital with a comprehensive report.
Anson Community Hospital’s lead radiologist, Carolyn Pomeroy, M.D., was very pleased with the results of the assessment and said, “The ACR accreditation is comprehensive in its evaluation of every phase of the computed tomography department. Our medical imaging staff works hard and has such concern for our patients. The achievement of this award encourages them and is well deserved.”
