Students from Anson New Technology High School participated in the final competition for Ten80 NASCAR STEM Initiative held at Stewart-Haas Racing in Kannapolis.
The event was another milestone for Anson New Technology’s RC Fast Track team also called “LTP Shift Motorsports.” Students presented their go-kart remodel project and how to change their differential in order to make sharp turns.
Students engineered remote-controlled cars and raced against schools nationwide on a track that was the size of a basketball court. Their last endurance race lasted 45 where they looped around a 100 foot by 40 foot track almost 350 times with 12 cars on the track.
This program has connected Anson County students to NASCAR drivers such as Kasey Kahne and David Ragan. Currently, they are looking to rebuild and expand their science, technology, engineering and mathematics opportunities.
