“The Trip to Bountiful” opened on Friday night. The play features four actors from Union County and five from Anson County, as well as Ansonians playing the piano and flute and helping with the stage work.
“The Trip to Bountiful” features phenomenal performances in all of the roles. Carrie longs to leave her son’s apartment to go home to Bountiful, the home she left years before. Although she is hampered by an overprotective son and an overbearing daughter-in-law, Carrie’s spirit stays strong and she outsmarts them both on her “Trip to Bountiful.” This play is about the trip and the peace, comfort and friendship Carrie experiences on her trip.
The amazing performances by the cast, beautiful music, and detailed scenery all enhance this sweet story, which the Arts Council calls “a tribute to mothers and to the spirit of seniors.” Don’t miss this beautiful performance.
The play runs Fridays and Saturdays, May 10-11 and May 17-18, at 7:30 p.m., as well as Sundays, May 12 and 19, at 2:30 p.m. Bring mothers for Mother’s Day or bring a group (discount offered). Tickets are $12 (reserved, assigned, seating) and can be purchased at the Arts Council (ACAC) or Lacy’s. Call 704-694-4950 or pay with PayPal at www.ansoniatheatre.com.
