Diondre Pratt, 17, was offered a full scholarship to play at Johnson C. Smith University and celebrated the signing with friends, teammates and family on Monday at Anson High School.
The three-year varsity player averaged 20 points, six rebounds and two assists per game this past year. He scored over 1,000 points at AHS, was voted MVP in 2011 and was named the District 8 Player of the Year among other accomplishments.
On July 16, he will play in the North Carolina East-West All-Star Game.
He thanked everyone he knew for their assistance in getting him where he is today and said JCSU was the “best fit.” Pratt said he might study criminal justice.
His coach Matt Sides said he was proud of Pratt’s character and said he was “punching his ticket” for an education.
