The Anson County Sheriff’s Office’s Operation Medicine Drop collected over 15,000 pills/dosage units during its operation Saturday.
This was the fifth such event for the Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with Anson County Safe Kids and the Wadesboro Police Department.
“This was most pills we have ever collected in one day,” Sheriff Tommy Allen said. “The public has really got behind this venture.”
Operation Medicine Drop is conducted twice a year, usually in the early spring and fall. It is a safe and proper way to dispose of out of date or no longer needed medicines. It also reduces the chance of an accidental overdose or children getting into the medicines that can have deadly consequences.
The next event will be scheduled in the spring of next year.
