After much popularity, an Anson County tradition will once again return to the streets of Historic Uptown Wadesboro. The Homecoming Parade, sponsored by H.W. Little and Co. Hardware, is slated to begin on Friday at 5 p.m.
The parade will be led by Grand Marshal John Jennings Dunlap III, president of the Anson County Historical Society. He will lead more than 60 parade entries, including several custom-built floats.
The homemade floats in this parade are always a crowd pleaser. To urge the community to enter homemade floats in the parade, a grand prize of $500 will be given for the best homemade float entry, a second prize of $250 will be given to the second place winner, and a $100 prize will be given to the third place winner.
Last year, the Anson New Tech High School took home the $500 grand prize. Anyone can enter a float in the parade: businesses, schools, churches, nonprofits, or just a group of people that want to show their Bearcat Pride.
Following the parade, there will be tailgating at the Anson High School parking lot in preparation for the big game’s kick-off at 7:30 p.m.
