The HOLLA!ween party on Wednesday drew Marios, ghouls, Hello Kittys, fairies, the Hulk and other characters to the HOLLA! Community Center in Morven. Guests were greeted by costumed hosts and offered free pizza, group games, line dancing, music and candy as they filed in. Even Sparky the fire dog was at the party, dancing with the children.
“The turnout was great,” Sabrina Hough, program coordinator, said. “The support from the community leaders as far as donations and just to be there to supervise the children was great. [The party was] in conjunction with the birthday of Mary Little, the CFO who passed away. Supporters included Ms. Johnie Pettiford, Ms. Little’s family, all of our HOLLA! volunteers, parents that came and brought their children.”
Hough encouraged continued efforts and for community to help with HOLLA!. “It’s not just for Morven, it’s for all of the families in Anson County.”
HOLLA! has some upcoming events, according to Hough. “We’re working with the Toys for Tots program, so we’ll have an event for that, and the literary festival in February,” Hough said. “It’ll be a full weekend, in conjunction with Black History Month, from Feb. 7-10. The Black History Program will be in Wadesboro.”
