POLKTON — Tommy Anderson Howell, 73, died Oct. 26, 2012 at his home.

Funeral services were held Monday at Hopewell United Methodist Church with Rev. Paul McClure and Rev. Rodney Clements officiating. Interment followed in Cedar Grove Church Cemetery.

The family greeted friends Sunday from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Leavitt Funeral Home in Wadesboro and other times at the home.

Howell was born Jan. 25, 1939 in Anson County, a son of the late Zeb Anderson Howell and the late Callie Mae Kiker Howell. Very active in the timber business, he owned and operated both Tommy’s Forest Products and Tommy’s Timber. He was a lifelong member of Hopewell United Methodist Church and also attended Red Hill Baptist Church.

Surviving are his loving wife of more than 54 years, Dorothy “Dot” Lett Howell of the home; his son, Tommy Howell II of Polkton; granddaughter, Scarlett Howell of Ansonville; his daughter-in-law, Lynette Howell Wallace of Ansonville; his sister, Rachel Thomas and husband, Bob of Columbia, S.C.; his nieces and nephew, Sandra and Emily Thomas both of Columbia, S.C., and Susan Furr and husband, Steve of Midland and Rev. Joe Thomas and wife, Norma of Salisbury; great-nieces and nephews, Callie Ann Furr and Conner Furr both of Midland and Bobby Thomas and wife, Sarah Beth of Columbia, S.C.
