WADESBORO — Mildred Good Freeman Goodwin Howell, 96, died Sept. 5, 2012 at Meadowview Terrace Assisted Living in Wadesboro.
The family will greet friends Friday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Olivet United Methodist Church with a graveside service following in the church cemetery with Rev. Norm Jones and Rev. Clay Burr officiating.
She was born April 18, 1916 in Little Switzerland, a daughter of the late James Alfonzo Good and the late Gabriella Lela Monfredo Good and spent her school age years in Thomasville.
In addition to her parents and husbands, James Ray Freeman and Jack Howell, she was preceded in death by her oldest son, James Lee “Jim” Freeman in 2007 and by a granddaughter, Lisa Kay Freeman in 1970.
She was a homemaker and long-time member of Olivet United Methodist Church. Her most recent years were spent as a resident of Meadowview Terrace Assisted Living in Wadesboro.
Survivors include her children, Charles Freeman and wife, Patricia of Lilesville, David Freeman and wife, Julia of Hendersonville, Lela Spriggs and husband, Ric of Belhaven, Steve Goodwin and wife, Sherry of Lilesville, and Donald Goodwin and wife, Jobie of Wadesboro; her daughter-in-law, Beverly Freeman of Lilesville; her niece, Betty Jean Brooks of Port Charlotte, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Olivet United Methodist Church, c/o Martha D. Goodwin, 3788 Stanback Ferry Road, Lilesville, NC 28091. The arrangements are in care of Leavitt Funeral Home.
