WADESBORO — Lois Edwards Smith, 87, died Dec. 5, 2012 at Hospice of Union County in Monroe.

Services will be 4 p.m. Sunday in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Dr. Robert Hunter, Rev. Marvin Tyson and Rev. Don Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Smith was born July 2, 1925 in Union County, a daughter of the late Bascom F. and Colon Carpenter Edwards. She had worked as a seamstress with West Knitting Mills, having worked 33 years prior to her retirement.

She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Wadesboro.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert D. “Bill” Smith and by her sisters, Kate Griffin and Willie Williams. She is survived by one nephew, Ed Griffin of Concord and her special friends, Betty and Henry Nance of Marshville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Music Ministry, P.O. Box 423, Wadesboro, NC 28170.
