The Leadership Anson Oversight Committee has selected 13 participants for the Class of 2013.
The 17th developmental program began the weekend of Jan. 11 and Jan. 12 with a Lake Tillery overnight retreat at the Uwharrie Lodge and Retreat Center.
An orientation to prepare participants for the weekend retreat and the upcoming sessions was held on Jan. 7.
The Leadership Anson Class of 2013 participants are: Damer Chapman, Anson County Sheriff’s Office; Catherine Crandell, Anson County Arts Council; Sharon Dawkins, Carolinas Primary Care; Rosezetta McCray, Anson County Partnership for Children; Holly Mullis, Anson Community Sheriff’s Office; Brian Nance, Anson County EMS; Cindi Pope, Town of Wadesboro; Alex Sewell, Town of Wadesboro; Wes Steagall, Anson County EMS; Ashley Steele, Anson Community Hospital; Truman Teal, API Security; Jennifer Treadaway, Anson Community Hospital; Lindsay Wallace, CMH Space Flooring Products, Inc.
Classes began with “Art/History/Volunteerism” on Jan. 29. Other topics for the program will be “Local Government Day” on Feb. 12; “Health Care Day” on Feb. 26; “Education Day” on March 12; “Local Leaders Panel Day” on March 26; “Agri-Business Day” on April 9; “Chamber Gold Tournament” on April 19; “Water Resources Day” on April 30; “Industry Day” on May 14; and “Legislative Day” on May 28. Graduation has been set for June 11.
The Leadership Anson program was implemented in 1997 by the Anson County Chamber of Commerce and, in 16 years, has graduated 254 participants. The program, with assistance from South Piedmont Community College and Hornwood, is designed to develop a commitment to community through leadership.
