Funeral services were held April 26 at 2 p.m. at Smith's Memorial Chapel. Visitation was at 1:30 p.m.
Interment followed the service at Westview Memorial Park.
Rorie was born Jan. 4, 1947, in Lilesville to Arie Harris Rorie and the late Joshua Rorie Sr. He confessed Christ at an early age at Henry Grove Baptist Church.
He was baptized and an active member of the Sunday school and Baptist Training Union. He attended Henry Grove High School and graduated in 1965.
He joined the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam from 1966 to 1967. He finished his time in the service at Fort Bragg in Fayetteville and was honorably discharged.
He is survived by his mother, Arie H. Rorie of Lilesville; stepson, Ricky Baker of Albemarle; siblings, Bertha Giddy of Wadesboro, Marie Aldridge of Washington, D.C., Emma (Clyde) Gatewood of Charlotte, John (Jean) Rorie of Morven, Walter (Rosa) Rorie of Lilesville, the Rev. Charles Rorie of Charlotte, Richard (Hunan) Rorie of Clarksville, Tenn., Clarence (Barbara) Rorie of Charlotte, Charlie Rorie of Lilesville, Brenda Cash of Rockingham, the Rev. Bernard (Shelia) Rorie of Lilesville, Mary (Alvin) F. Little of Morven and Nancy Rorie of Lilesville; and a host of other relatives and friends.
