The filing deadline for municipal elections passed at noon Friday. Several incumbents chose to file for re-election to their seats, but a few notable town council members opted not to run again.
James Richard Harrington was the only candidate to file for the mayoralty of Lilesville. Harrington is the incumbent.
Bernice M. Bennett, Hampton M. Downer, Frank Edward McAllister, Maggie B. Staton, Steve Whitlock and Juanita Williams each filed for the five openings on the Lilesville Town Council. All except Staton are incumbents.
Ben Atkinson, Theodore R. Carr Jr., Marjorie K. Cole, Beth Eddins, Janet H. Pratt and Annie R. Townsend filed for the three open seats on the Morven Town Council. Townsend is an incumbent.
David L. Trotti currently holds one of the seats but decided not to file.
"I just don't care to," he said.
Alvin Solomon was also up for re-election but did not file. He could not be reached for comment.
James Thomas Hamilton, Bennie Garrett McLendon, Jason Mullis and Kenny Rowell have filed for the two open seats in Peachland. Hamilton and McLendon are the incumbents.
Henry C. Furr Jr. and Minnie P. Staton have filed for the mayoralty of Polkton. Staton is the incumbent.
John C. Allen, Myra T. Dalgleish, Johnny Raye Faulk Jr., Jimmy Hildreth, Sissy Stegall and Linda Hill Tucker have filed for the five open seats on the Polkton Town Council. Allen, Dalgleish, Tucker and Faulk are the incumbents.
Incumbent Jeff Lambert did not file. He could not be reached for comment.
Bob Blalock, Lawrence R. Gatewood, James David Lee and Bobby Usrey have filed for the three open seats on the Wadesboro Town Council. Blalock and Gatewood are incumbents.
Lynn Horton, who was appointed to fill the late Sam McLendon's seat, did not file.
"i just decided that I didn't want to file and run this time," she said.
All names are printed as they will appear on the ballot. Filing opened July 6. The election will be Nov. 3.
