MORVEN — Darrell Lynn Cowick Sr., 50, died Aug. 25, 2012 at his home.

Funeral services were held Aug. 28 in Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Rocky Carpenter officiating. Interment followed in Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family also greeted friends prior to the services.

Cowick was born in Anson County on June 10, 1962, a son of Shelby Gooden Cowick Whitaker and the late Charles Edward Cowick. At the time of his death, he was employed with Southern Fabricators, Inc., in Polkton with 27 years of service.

Surviving are his wife of 25 years, Cathy Tarlton Cowick of the home; his children, Kristie Cowick of Wadesboro and Darrell Cowick Jr. of Morven; his mother, Shelby Gooden Cowick Whitaker of Chesterfield, S.C.; his siblings, Tim Cowick and wife, Cathy of Mooresville, Steve Cowick and wife, Carlyn of Wadesboro and Dena Grice and husband, Jimmy of Morven; and many nieces and nephews.
