The Bearcats put down the Rebels Friday, 42-20.
Anson opened the game with a scoring drive as Jonathan Hough caught a 35-yard pass with 7:51 left in the first quarter. The score was 7-0.
A litany of penalties kept Anson from scoring again in the first quarter. Nine of the first 10 penalties were called on Anson.
Parkwood tied the game at seven seconds into the second quarter with a rushing touchdown.
The Bearcats responded quickly, grinding their way down the field with their rushing game. With 9:34 left in the quarter, Anson scored the first of three unanswered touchdowns.
Brandon Ellerbe put his team in the end zone again five minutes later with his second rushing touchdown.
Drew Cole capped off the scoring with a long touchdown pass 30 seconds before halftime. The Bearcats had jumped out to a 28-7 lead.
An attempt to turn the game around by Parkwood backfired minutes into the second half. On fourth and three, near the 50-yard line, the Rebels went for the conversion. It failed and the Bearcats marched to the end zone to widen their lead by seven points.
Parkwood's long scoring drought ended seconds into the third quarter with a rushing touchdown.
Parkwood recovered the onside kick and drove to Anson's 32-yard line. There, with 11 minutes remaining, the Rebels made an exciting 4-yard gain.
After stripping the ball from a Parkwood receiver, Anson fumbled and the Rebels recovered. Parkwood failed to score.
Jordan Hildreth rushed for Anson's final touchdown with 4:20 left in the game. Parkwood made one more successful push, but missed the point after touchdown.
Ellerbe finished with two touchdowns and 20 carries for 144 yards. Maurice Copeland had one touchdown with 14 carries for 99 yards. Hilldreth had one rushing touchdown with five carries for 68 yards.
Hildreth completed six of nine passes for 116 yards and two touchdowns. Cole had two catches for 52 yards and a touchdown. Hough had one catch for 42 yards and a touchdown.
The victory lifted Anson to 7-4 overall.
The Bearcats will have a rematch against Marvin Ridge Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the first game of the 3AA playoffs. The game is at Marvin Ridge. Anson lost to Marvin Ridge Oct. 23, 24-20.
