The Bearcats upset Northern Guilford High School Friday, 34-32.

This is "one of the biggest wins in program history," Coach Luke Hyatt said in an e-mail.

Anson was the 12th seed in the playoffs. Northern Guilford was the first seed.

"All the kids stepped up and made plays when we needed to," Hyatt said.

The win lifted the Bearcats to 10-4 overall. Anson will move on to play against South Point High School in the N.C. 3AA semifinal Friday at South Point.

The seventh-seeded South Point defeated third seed A.L. Brown High School Friday, 24-7.

No statistics from the game were available in time for press.
