After a rocky start to the 2012 season, the Anson High School varsity football team is looking for its first win at its first home game of the season Friday night against Pageland-Central of South Carolina.
The Bearcats lost a scrimmage game Aug. 10 against Cheraw, 7-0, and dropped another game last Friday night to Forest Hills, 32-26.
Head Coach Luke Hyatt said he hopes to rebound against Pageland-Central, although that team has played in four straight state championship games and the Bearcats have had less than stellar results the past few seasons. Hyatt said that the team is “a great group of kids” who have been preparing for this season all summer long.
“It’s a tough schedule,” the coach admitted, but added that he thinks his team is up for the challenge. “They’ve got a good attitude and put forth a great effort.”
The game against Pageland-Central is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. this Friday night at the Anson High School stadium.
