In addition to its sold-out performances, Friday and Saturday night at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m., the Ansonia Theatre will host an encore production of the musical “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown,” on Oct. 28 at 3 p.m.

The encore performance will not have assigned seating, said Anson County Arts Council secretary/treasurer Catherine Crandell.

The Ansonia hosted several invitation-only performances of the play preceding Friday’s opening night, and the production was a huge hit, leaving audience members on their feet, laughing and giving a standing ovation to the cast.

David Michael of Wingate plays the headlining role of Charlie Brown, and leads the cast of locals. Gina Gilmore Clark of Lilesville plays Charlie Brown’s little sister Sally to sulking perfection, and Anson native Emily Litaker Privette plays a singing, dancing Snoopy. Anson High School English teacher Samuel Kraus of Wadesboro is thumb-sucking, blanket-toting Linus, Darius Cox of Lilesville is piano-playing Schroeder and Melody Goodwin of Wadesboro is the ever-crabby Lucy, offering her psychiatric counseling for 5 cents. Rounding out the cast of Peanuts characters are Hannah Chaney of Wadesboro as Peppermint Patty, Gage Tarlton of Wadesboro as Pig Pen and Erin Thomas of Wadesboro as Marci.

Steve Fowler of Monroe is making his directorial debut with the Ansonia production, and has worked in theatre for 18 years. Fowler said so far audience reaction to the musical has been “real, real positive.”

“Things are going so well,” he said. “The planets and stars really aligned with this cast. It is a team effort and it shows. I’ve been in a few shows in my career and this ranks right up there.”

Tickets for the Oct. 28 performance of “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown” are available through the Anson County Arts Council. For more information, call the arts council at 704-694-4950.
