The Anson County Arts Council (ACAC) will sponsor a production of “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown” (revised).
To get started, the arts council is looking for people interested in the “off stage/director positions,” including a music director, a choreographer and two pianists. This production is a musical, meaning there is very little dialog except what is sung and danced. Therefore, the music director will need to work with individual soloists, as well as the chorus. Likewise the choreographer will develop choreography for two soloists, as well as simple choreography for the chorus.
The arts council is planning to use two pianists (actually playing keyboard or piano). The pianists will not need to practice during all the rehearsals, since there will be a CD recording available for rehearsals. The pianists will need to be available during the last couple of weeks of rehearsal and during all performances. Some of the rehearsals will take place at locations most convenient for individuals involved.
The production should appeal to all ages and be lots of fun for the audience as well as all the performers and crew. Anson and the surrounding counties have so much musical talent; let’s celebrate it!
If you know someone who has the ability and time to help put this together, encourage them to call the ACAC (704-694-4950) or email email@example.com. We would like to hear from choreographers, music directors or chorus directors, as well as pianists and keyboard players who know and read music well. The ACAC would like to hear from anyone interested in building sets, props, helping with sound and lights, or costumes.
This show will be performed on Oct. 19 (two shows — one during the day and one evening), Oct. 20 (evening) and Oct. 21 (Sunday matinee).
In a week or so, there will be information on auditions. The cast will include six major singing parts and several chorus members. There should be roles for most ages, but mostly 16 to adult. One or more needs to be comfortable with dance.
The arts council will also be looking for sponsors (different levels of giving with different levels of benefits). So if you know a business, family or individual interested in supporting this program, let the ACAC know as soon as possible.
