The Bearcats ended their losing streak Friday night, with a final score of 34-27 over Chesterfield.

Anson came into the game with a 0-3 record, and on the heels of a crushing 58-0 loss against Richmond on Aug. 31.

For the first three quarters of Friday night’s game, the Bearcats and Rams were evenly matched, and were tied at 13-13 at halftime. By the end of the third quarter, both teams had scored two more touchdowns and the score was again knotted at 27-27.

Anson delivered the tie-breaker in the fourth quarter with another touchdown. The final score was 34-27.

Quarterback Rodrick Evans scored one touchdown and passed for a total of 161 yards. The team as a whole rushed for 209 yards. Scorers were Evans, C.J. Bivens and Allen Campbell. Manuel Alonso scored all but one of his kicks, for a total of four points.

Next up, the Bearcats will host Scotland County this Friday night at 7:30 p.m. at Anson High School Stadium.
