Anson County 4-H celebrated National 4-H Week and the 100th birthday of the 4-H organization last week with a party on the square in uptown Wadesboro.

After birthday cake and a one-mile walk around uptown, party-goers received a 4-H pedometer. Then, 100 green and white balloons emblazoned with the 4-H logo were released. Each of the balloons contained a card with North Carolina Cooperative Extension's phone number on it, so that 4-H agent Roshunda Blount can hopefully get calls from individuals who find the balloons.

"It'll be neat to see how far they went," Blount said.

Other events held during the week included 4-H Sundae, Wear Green Day and set-up at Anson High School.
