Anson High School’s art club members — and a few of the staff — got creative with a pumpkin decorating contest this Halloween season. On Oct. 31, the winners were announced.

The first prize winner was Kellie Powell, for her pumpkin resembling the Jigsaw puppet from the “Saw” horror movies.

Cafeteria staff member Mary Lynn Usrey also created a pumpkin depicting a Bearcat in honor of the school’s mascot. The contest is held every year, and this year was the biggest yet, organizers said.

The members of the art club won a pizza party for their participation.
