Baseball


The varsity Bearcats lost their game on Friday to Marvin Ridge with a score of 5-1. They also lost their game last Wednesday to Marvin Ridge with a score of 21-4.


The JV team also lost to Marvin Ridge 11-1.


These losses gives the varsity team a 1-13 overall record and a 0-6 conference record, and the JV team a 1-10 overall season, according to high school sports website Maxpreps.com.


The varsity team will play at Cuthbertson High School at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. They will play against Cuthbertson again at home on Friday at 7 p.m. The JV team will play at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Central Academy in Monroe.


Softball


The girls lost their away conference game to Cuthbertson last Tuesday with a score of 0-1.


This loss gives them a 1-9 overall season and a 0-5 conference score, according to Maxpreps. They will play at Central Academy in Monroe on Wednesday at 5 p.m. They will play at home against Piedmont on Friday at 4:30 p.m.


Soccer


The girls lost their soccer game 9-0 to Marvin Ridge on Friday. This loss gives them an overall 0-7 season and a 0-5 conference score, according to Maxpreps.


They had a tough game, fighting the wind to keep control of the ball as goalies kicked them into the field and to hear each other and their coach. Assistant coach Kristin Marchese told them to communicate more loudly than normal to be heard over the wind.


Even with their rough game, Marchese encouraged them constantly. “We’re in a really tough conference and Marvin Ridge is one of the hardest teams in the conference,” she said. “The girls have really improved. And honestly, even thought it was a loss I told them not to be disappointed. They’re improving and they’ve got a great work ethic. They’re a great group of girls, and Anson High School is really lucky to have them.”


The girls will play at Forest Hills High School on Thursday at 6 p.m. They will play at home against Piedmont on Friday at 5:30 p.m.
