Southern States will open a 12,000-square-foot feed and farm supply store in Monroe on Aug. 29.
The store will be four times the size of the current location, and is located at 1620 E. Roosevelt Blvd., in a former BI-LO grocery store. The former Southern States store, at 420 Crow St., will close and the staff will move to the new facility.
“We will offer products in these new stores that we haven’t had available in our other retail locations,” said Anne Clingenpeel, Southern States vice president for retail operations. “Besides a wider range of products, we will also offer a deeper selection within the individual product categories.”
Southern States is one of the nation’s largest agricultural cooperatives, with more than 200,000 farmer-members. It provides a wide range of farm inputs, including fertilizer, seed, livestock feed, pet food, animal health supplies and petroleum products, as well as other items for the farm and home. Southern States has 1,200 retail outlets in 23 states.
Store hours at the new facility will be 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays.
The grand opening, starting on Aug. 29, will include a free bucket or hat on Saturday (while supplies last), $25 gift cards given away every hour on Friday and Saturday, and prize giveaways including a Power Washer 2500 psi on Friday and a Weber Spirit LP grill on Saturday.
