Union County Community Assistance Ministry will open a satellite office in Marshville on Monday, to better serve residents of Anson and eastern Union counties.
Executive director Gloria Barrino said that the agency serves many people who live and work in Union County, but also many who work in Union County but live in Anson. Many Anson County residents who work in Union have problems with transportation to be able to get to their workplaces in Monroe.
The office, which will be located at 119 E. Union St. in Marshville, will be open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., offering many of the same services as the Monroe office, including the emergency food pantry. The office will also provide meeting space for community groups.
An open house to celebrate the Marshville office’s opening is planned for Monday, from 4-7 p.m.
On Aug. 14, Union county Community Assistance Ministry will hold hold a workshop to help homeowners avoid foreclosure. There will also be courses in the future on helping people break the cycle of poverty and achieve financial literacy.
