Plans for the Taste of the Pee Dee festival are well under way.
The festival — a reinvented PeopleFest — will celebrate arts, crafts and outdoor living. The Discover Anson Bike Ride, children’s activities, food, handmade arts and crafts, and musical entertainment will all be combined for a Taste of the Pee Dee.
The 5K run will be presented by the Wadesboro Police Department, and the bike ride will be presented by the Anson County Chamber of Commerce. There will also be a climbing wall, face painting, a local foods bake-off for adult (presented by the NC Cooperative Extension), local and regional wine, pottery, arts and crafts, and more. A local band will begin playing music at 6 p.m.
Although many attractions and food are already planned for the festival, organizer Cindi Pope said the festival will welcome more vendors. A downloadable vendor application, rules and information and other documents are available on the festival’s website. All vendor applications are due by Sept. 1 and must be accompanied by a release and waiver of liability (available on the website).
The festival will take place in downtown Wadesboro on Oct. 11 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. For more information, contact Pope at the town of Wadesboro’s office at 704-694-5171.
