Pee Dee Electric CEO appointed to NCREA board
WADESBORO — Donald H. Spivey, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Vice President of Pee Dee Electric Membership Corporation, was recently appointed by Governor McCrory to the North Carolina Rural Electrification Authority board of directors. This appointment is made for a term of four years.
Spivey, who has been with Pee Dee Electric for 28 years, holds a B.S. degree in accounting and an M.S. of business administration from Wingate University. He is immediate past president of the board of directors of NCEMC, a member of the board of directors for NCEMC and GreenCo Solutions, Inc. He currently serves as president of the board of directors of Sandhills Utility Services, Inc.
The NCREA was created as an agency of the state of North Carolina and is primarily focused on ensuring that customers within rural areas of NC have access to adequate, dependable and affordable electric and telephone services. Additionally, the authority oversees the application of cooperative rules and regulations, and assists cooperatives with managing any recommended changes to these rules and regulations as needed.
“I am honored to have been selected by Governor McCrory to serve as a member of the NCREA Board and look forward to supporting cooperatives across the state of North Carolina during my term,” Spivey said.
The NCREA board of directors consists of five members, all of which are appointed by the North Carolina Governor for a term of four years. Spivey’s term will expire in June 2017.
