The Lady Bearcats won all of their volleyball sets against Pageland Central last Wednesday on senior night.

JV won their first set with a close 26-24 and their second set 25-19. Varsity made each of their wins stronger than before, winning their first set 25-18 and their two subsequent sets 25-13 and 25-8. “The girls worked together as a team that night,” head coach Celeste Dutton said. “They worked hard and put forth their best effort.”

These wins were especially welcomed after a loss to Weddington last Tuesday. At that game, Anson’s varsity team lost all three sets: 25-12, 25-22, and 25-11. JV won the second of its three sets 25-12, but Weddington won the first and third sets 25-12 and 25-22.

For senior night, the girls honored three seniors: Tracey Brewer (#11), Abbey Hutchinson (#4), and Rebeckah Pace (#1). They also recognized Breast Cancer Awareness Month, holding a pink sign that read “On Wednesdays we wear PINK” and donning white-and-pink shirts and pink socks and hair bows. Pink ribbons were also passed out to the crowd.

The ladies wrapped up their season on Monday.
