My son is in Lanesboro Correctional and has been on lockdown since November of 2013. This is the worse (sic) prison I have ever dealt with. No one ever returns calls, they know my voice because I have called so many times. My son has yet received his meds, and in his last letter he was told the nurse lost his meds and has to reorder them. This is the second time it has happened. Dr. H. won’t even look at my son when he sees him. He has no knowledge of his skin disorder and refuses to use a computer for access. The nurses have to do it for him. I looked up his pay and supposedly he earns $120,000 a year and I think he works 2 days a week at Lanesboro. There is a nasty guard there named M. that has had so many complaints on him for his abuses on inmates they don’t reprimand him. I was told the guards make $10 an hour, they can’t get enough help because no one wants to work. Prisoners are now fined $10 every time they get a reprimand like not closing a cell door. Or you can do time in the hole if you don’t have money.

Inmates are still forced to shower with handcuffs on in population while inmates in the hole get to shower without cuffs.

Population does not get 1 hour of Rec a day as required by law, but inmates in the hole do. They haven’t had rec in 2 months.

Population does not get brooms, mops and cleaning supplies on a regular basis but inmates in the hole do.

Inmates in population get their showers taken away for 5 days as punishment without a write up for any minor annoyance they cause a C.O. — this doesn’t even happen in the hole.

No inmates are allowed use of the phones.

All visits are now non-contact for all inmates.

All STG inmates will stay in the hole after the rest of the prison comes off lockdown even though they haven’t done anything to merit disciplinary action. (EDITOR’S NOTE: STG refers to Security Threat Group, a formal or informal group of prison inmates. STGs pose a threat to the safety of prison officials and other inmates.)

STG inmates will not have the same opportunities as other inmates to better themselves thru (sic) work or school or to reduce their time of imprisonment thru (sic) earned time credit.

There doesn’t even have to be proof of gang involvement or any kind of infraction to be put on the STG list.

So this is what has been going on. The money I put down on the phone for my son, I will lose because if no calls are made in 3 months, the company takes. I put down money on 3 numbers so my son can talk to family.

This place is a hell hole. Nobody cares because they are considered the bottom of the barrel criminals.

I sincerely hope they take care of this mess. Somehow they don’t see that not only the prisoners are punished but the families and loved ones are punished too. I am glad that Sgt. Diamond has recovered and is back to work. I have heard nice things about her. Why don’t they punish the animal that attacked her and not us families that have loved ones who are unlucky to be sent to Lanesboro.

PS — I find it hard to believe that Keith Acree doesn’t know about the handcuffs in the shower. It’s his job to know.
