Deputies arrested Michael Kevin Allen on Tuesday for suspicion of shooting a man at the Pee Dee River last week.
Michael Allen was found shortly before 1 p.m. on Tuesday in a rural area of the county. He was in a residence on Usrey Road near Lilesville and was arrested without incident, according to Sheriff Tommy Allen.
Michael Allen, 35, is suspected of assaulting and shooting William David Scott, 54, on Thursday. After receiving a call reporting a fight at the boat landing, deputies were on their way to the river when they heard from dispatchers that someone had been shot.
Deputy Evan Carville wrote the report of the incident and heard from witness John Thomas Liverman, who made the 911 call. Liverman told the deputy that the shooter’s name was Mike and that he had that the victim “had killed his mother in a vehicle accident several years prior to today.”
Scott was flown to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte and released. His criminal record reveals that he spent nearly 12 years in jail and was convicted of death by vehicle in 1992. Allen’s lenghthy criminal record includes several assault convictions.
Allen is being held in the Anson County Jail under a $25,000 bond. He will be charged with causing a disturbance, assault with a deadly weapon and simple assault.
The Sheriff’s Office announced on Friday that deputies were going to Richmond County to interview Scott and search for Allen. At the time, they believed that he was in the Hamlet area. As of Tuesday night, they had not revealed what made them search for Allen in Lilesville.
