Anson County Partnership for Children will be hosting its annual “Visit with Santa” — and Mrs. Claus — at First Presbyterian Church in Wadesboro on Dec. 2.

“It is just an awesome to time to talk with parents and build relationships with families because they are already uptown for the Christmas parade,” said Alexandra Harrington, outreach and literacy coordinator for ACPC. “It is a great way to end the day.”

The event, now in its 15th year, will take place in the church’s fellowship hall. In preveious years, Harrington said, people had to wait outside in the cold due to limited space at the Partnership.

Children can write their wish list while waiting to talk to Santa and get their pictures taken, and Mrs. Claus will be giving out special winter-themed books.

“We started because we wanted to build a relationship with families while also spreading literacy in our county, and because of ‘Visit with Santa’ we can accomplish those goals,” Harrington said. “Every child will get a letter in the mail and receive information about the Partnership, which also gives families an opportunity to take pictures with Santa without worrying about the cost.”

Pictures of children will be taken during the visit and posted on the Partnership’s Facebook page, and parents are encouraged to take pictures as well. Harrington said they are expecting around 200 children. She also said that at this time, there are no additional activities planned.

“All the hard work that goes into ‘Visit with Santa’ is worth it when we see the excitement each child has when they get to hug Santa,” Harrington said. “It is a rewarding feeling.”
