of Indie Studios on the opening of a new arts and crafts studio in Uptown Wadesboro. Indie Studios celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its grand opening at 118 North Rutherford St., in Wadesboro, on Saturday, August 5, 2017.

McElroy says that the idea came to her when she learned her job was ending, and needed something else to do, according to a release from the Chamber. The idea grew during her Tuesday and Thursday night class at the NC REAL course provided by South Piedmont Community College, and has now evolved into Indie Studios.

“We are starting small, but have big goals,” McElroy said.

“Art is my passion,” she added. “I have been drawing and painting for as long as I can remember. I quit band three days after I found out I could take art. Indie studios is a way to share my passion.”

Indie Studios, located at 118 N. Rutherford St., will “provide a creative space for arts, crafts, DIY projects, sip n’ paints, and much more,” according to the release.

Individual studio space is available for rent and customers have access to arts and crafts supplies. To find out more about Indie Studios visit www.indiestudiosnc.com or call 704-994-2389.
